You’re Engaged! Now let’s talk about wedding budget!

Wedding budgets are always a hot-button issue. How much should you spend on your wedding? How much is too much?

In the excitement of wedding planning, it’s easy to start shopping without a budget. Having a wedding budget may not be the most exciting thing to do (hello, engagement party), but it will stop your finances from working against you, no matter how complex your plans are.

With some careful planning, you can have a beautiful ceremony that’s also within your budget. Don’t skimp on what matters most!

And while there isn’t a right or wrong answer, it all depends on what aspects of your big day matter to you the most.

If you don’t know where to start, here’s some advice: don’t worry about everything at once. Start with picking a date, then take it from there.

Here are some other questions to ask yourself as well:

  • How much am I willing to invest comfortably?
  • Where do I want my ceremony/reception?
  • Who will I want to spend the day with?

After answering these questions and making any appropriate choices (e.g., colour scheme), it’s time for the fun stuff.

Whatever your situation, there are some general guidelines for setting your wedding budget.

Step 1 – Identify the Wedding Budget Contributors.

If you and your fiancé have already decided to foot the bill for the entire wedding, this part of the planning process should go smoothly.

However, it’s possible that your folks or other relatives would want to help out with financial contributions.

Naturally, this can be a tricky discussion to have.

Finding out who is willing to give money will make future decisions easier and give an idea of how much the whole thing will cost.

Just remember that donations don’t just have to be monetary in kind.

As someone who works at weddings, I know firsthand how much time, effort, and money are needed to make an event go well.

Make sure that anyone who offers to help in this way is both willing to talk to you about your ideas and style and aware of how much work they are taking on.

Step 2 – Work Out Your Biggest Cost

Your wedding venue is one of the first things you’ll reserve, and it also tends to be the most expensive. So, it would be ideal to have a solid idea of this cost. Ask about corkage and other hidden fees at the outset so that you’re not surprised by them afterwards.

More than fifty percent of engaged couples say they had to make adjustments to their original wedding budget because they neglected an expense. Actually, it’s something I think you should look into seriously.

Step 3 – Estimate Your Guest Numbers

This is the second most important factor influencing your wedding costs in all aspects of your wedding.

You’ll need to know how many people are attending so that you can plan accordingly for things like venue size, and other typ.

Step 4- Pick your Wedding Party and Set Expectations.

It is critical to carefully select your wedding party. It’s also essential to make sure that you have a good relationship with them and that they will support your wedding plans. If you’re planning a small ceremony, for example, you might want to invite close friends or family members. If you’re looking for something larger and more extravagant, it may be beneficial to find a wedding party who is not only supportive but also willing (and able) to assist with the planning process.

The key to a successful luxury wedding is to create an overall sense of luxury that’s authentic to you as a couple. And don’t forget to take care of yourself during this exciting time by eating well and getting plenty of sleep!
